This book is quite popular in circulation though I found it hard to follow. One reason is that I don't know enough about Arabic so the name in this audiobook can get me lost during the listening journey. The second reason is that I was on vacation and drove 947 miles while listening to this audiobook. I spent some attention span on navigation.
In brief, Ibn Khaldun's Muquaddimah wasn't written for the public. It was more like a personal note. As a result, it can be didactic for some readers. Plus, terminologies used in Muquaddimah weren't used consistently. Without an extensive understanding of Arabic, misunderstanding can happen every now and then.
One interesting note: Muquaddimah was listed in A Year of Books by Mark Zuckerberg in 2015. Read more on Why Mark Zuckerberg wants everyone to read the 14th-century Islamic book 'The Muqaddimah'
Additionally, I found this book summary about the Muquaddimah itself. It's quite thought-provoking! The Muqaddimah Summary and Review. Especially this point:
The Muqaddimah Key Idea #2: Different climates have different effects on individuals and societies.
It was mentioned in one of my many Egyptian book summary that the low moisture could possibly bolster the idea of eternal life. How do you think?
